Final
Final score and recap
Green Bay Packers 14, Atlanta Falcons 35
The Atlanta Falcons defeated the Green Bay Packers 35-14 in Week 3 at Lambeau Field, with Atlanta’s rushing production and greater passing efficiency standing out in the box score. The teams were tied 7-7 after the first quarter, but the Falcons outscored Green Bay 10-0 in the second and 7-0 in the third. Atlanta added an 11-7 advantage in the fourth to complete the 21-point win. Green Bay generated substantial passing volume without turning enough of it into points. Quarterback Jordan Love completed 28 of 53 attempts for 312 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. His 5.9 yards per attempt and 75.4 passer rating show the limits of that production: the Packers moved the ball through the air in aggregate, but it took 53 attempts to reach 312 yards. Love also was sacked once for a one-yard loss and had a fumble that was not lost. The clearest positives came from Green Bay’s top two receivers. Matthew Golden caught five passes for 100 yards and a touchdown, averaging 20 yards per reception with a long gain of 45. Christian Watson added seven receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown, including a 34-yard long. Those two accounted for both of Love’s touchdown passes and 196 of his 312 passing yards. Elsewhere, Skyy Moore had three catches for 31 yards, while Tucker Kraft produced four catches for 26 yards on eight targets. The supplied rushing lines reveal a sharp contrast. MarShawn Lloyd carried four times for 11 yards, and Kaleb Johnson had four carries for six yards. Atlanta, by comparison, received 194 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries from Bijan Robinson, who averaged 6.7 yards per attempt and broke a 55-yard run. Robinson also caught both of his targets for 19 yards. Brian Robinson Jr. supplemented that production with 50 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries, an average of five yards per rush. The numbers point to Atlanta’s ground game as a major dividing line. The Falcons also extracted more yards from each passing attempt. Michael Penix Jr. went 18 of 25 for 256 yards, one touchdown and one interception, averaging 10.2 yards per attempt with a 101.4 passer rating. Drake London was the central receiving threat, catching nine of 10 targets for 194 yards. His 21.6-yard average and 68-yard long reception supplied Atlanta with substantial downfield production. Austin Hooper caught two passes for 11 yards and the Falcons’ receiving touchdown. Green Bay did produce one takeaway through Xavier McKinney, who recorded an interception with a five-yard return and also had five tackles and a pass defended. However, Penix’s line shows he was not sacked, while the supplied Packers defensive statistics include only one quarterback hit, by Lukas Van Ness. Zaire Franklin and Evan Williams each recorded 10 tackles, while Franklin added one tackle for loss. Those individual totals came in a game in which Atlanta’s leading back repeatedly accumulated yardage. Special teams offered Green Bay some field-position value. Daniel Whelan averaged 50 yards on five punts, placed four inside the 20 and had a long of 64 without a touchback. Moore returned five kickoffs for 134 yards, averaging 26.8 per return. The kicking lines favored Atlanta: Nick Folk made both field-goal attempts, including one from 44 yards, and scored nine points. Green Bay’s Trey Smack missed his only field-goal attempt but converted two extra points. For the Packers, the encouraging evidence is concentrated in the production of Golden and Watson, along with McKinney’s interception and Whelan’s placement. The larger assessment is less favorable. Green Bay scored in only the first and fourth quarters, received little rushing production from the listed backs and allowed two Atlanta players to reach 194 yards in separate offensive categories. Love’s 312 passing yards could not offset Atlanta’s balance, explosiveness and 35-point output.
- Matthew Golden and Christian Watson combined for 196 receiving yards and both Green Bay touchdowns, with each producing a reception of at least 34 yards.
- Bijan Robinson rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns, while Drake London added 194 receiving yards on nine catches for Atlanta.
- Daniel Whelan averaged 50 yards on five punts and placed four inside the 20, providing Green Bay’s strongest special-teams contribution.
